Schissler Land Surveying (SLS) is a full service Land Surveying firm located in Jay, New York. We offer a wide variety of surveying services for the homeowner, soon-to-be homeowner, business owner, developers as well as other design and legal professionals.
SLS was established by Ralph C. Schissler III. He is a 1989 graduate of Paul Smith's College and a New York State Licensed Land Surveyor with over 20 years of experience. Mr. Schissler has performed thousands of Boundary Surveys, Mortgage/Real Estate Closing Surveys, as well as Subdivisions and Site Plans of varying sizes and complexities. He works closely with numerous attorneys, realtors and lending institutions to help meet the needs of their clients.
In addition, Mr. Schissler has performed numerous Site Plans and Subdivisions, both jurisdictional and non-jurisdictional, for the Adirondack Park Agency (APA). Mr. Schissler is well versed in Land Planning, SEQRA requirements, APA regulations and the zoning and subdivisions regulations of many surrounding towns. He has represented numerous clients before local Planning and Zoning Boards meetings and during APA site visits.
As a Land Surveyor, Mr. Schissler has a varied professional background in both the private and public sector. He has worked for both small firms and large corporate firms, as well as the State of New York. Mr. Schissler managed the Surveying Department of a Plattsburgh based Surveying/Engineering firm, as well as the Poughkeepsie Survey Division of a top 500 Design Firm. He has performed thousands of route, design and topographic surveys for development and design purposes. In addition, he has conducted countless ALTA/ACSM Land Title Surveys for commercial financing and development purposes for both local developers and large national chains, including Rite Aid, Lowes, Walmart and Dollar General. As a Land Surveyor, his career expanded into state service working as a Land Surveyor in Right-of-Way Mapping for Region 8 in the New York State Department of Transportation. It was here that Mr. Schissler gained valuable experience with Highway Law issues, as well as the requirements and needs of this agency.
With a strong background in many facets of the Land Surveying industry, SLS can perform a 500 acre survey of a remote Adirondack wilderness parcel, an ALTA/ACSM Land Title Survey for a retail chain, or a Topographic Survey for the design of a new public facility.
